The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and the last opportunity for players to earn a spot in the championships. The tournament begins Sunday, August 24 and runs through Labor Day in September. It’s held annually at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York City. The US Open is played on a hard court and is the oldest of all four major tennis events.
Aryna Sabalenka and Naomi Osaka are just two of the big names who are still competing at the 2025 US Open, and both women are looking to reach the final in NYC. Sabalenka showcased her prowess in the quarterfinals by crushing Cristina Bucsa and now faces Polina Kudermetova, while Osaka will play another home favorite, Amanda Anisimova, who stunned the world when she defeated Venus Williams in a five-set match on Thursday.
Novak Djokovic is also in action at Flushing Meadows, as the defending champion starts his quest for a fifth US Open title with a second round match against world no. 145 Zachary Svajda. The Olympic tennis gold medalist will be joined by Roland-Garros winner Carlos Alcaraz, who will battle USA rising stars Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz.
If you’re planning to attend the US Open, be sure to check the practice schedule the night before and morning of each day (it usually comes out by 5:00pm). This will let you know when to watch players train without fighting crowds, especially on the main show courts. You can also check resale prices in the days leading up to each session and buy tickets accordingly based on the availability.
