The Masters Leaderboard

The Masters leaderboard

After all the hype surrounding The Masters tournament, one of the more overlooked aspects of Augusta National is the massive leaderboards placed throughout the course. They are easy to spot and, for golf fans and casual sports enthusiasts tuning into the action, they serve as a great way to follow the progress of every player.

Those who are familiar with the Masters leaderboard know that it displays a player’s starting score relative to par to the left of their name, then shows how that score changes throughout the day by adding or subtracting strokes based on the player’s performance on each hole. For example, a birdie reduces the player’s score by one, while a bogey increases it. As the rounds go on, the score will change even more depending on how players perform at each hole.

The top 50 golfers, plus ties, advance to the final two rounds of the Masters tournament. After the second round, the cut line at the Masters stood at 2 over, one of the lowest marks in recent Masters history.

With ideal weather conditions in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, it looks like a truly exciting weekend at The Masters will be on tap this year. With a number of the game’s best players stacked on the first page of the leaderboard, The Masters could have another classic finish in store.

Rory McIlroy is holding on to the lead after two rounds, but he is under serious pressure from Bryson DeChambeau and Ludvig Aberg. The three golfers are tied at 10-under par, just four shots ahead of McIlroy.
