The Masters Leaderboard – The Ebb and Flow of Golf

As golf fans follow their favorite players throughout a tournament, it’s an exciting experience to witness the rankings shift in real time. A birdie, an eagle, or even an unfortunate double bogey can have dramatic effects on each player’s total and directly impact their position on the leaderboard. At The Masters, this ebb and flow is especially evident as fans track each day’s scores and witness the top contenders battle to earn that iconic green jacket.

Following the first round of The Masters, Justin Rose is leading the field with a seven-under 65. The one-time major champion is three shots ahead of Corey Conners, Scottie Scheffler, and Ludvig Aberg. Rory McIlroy, aiming to complete a career grand slam, sits in the group of players at six under.

Davis Riley and Patton Kizzire were the first players to finish their rounds with a par and bogey respectively. Both players were inside the cut line heading into the weekend. Fred Couples and Bernhard Langer are both tied for sixth place at 1-under par.

With two rounds left, the number of contenders for this year’s Masters is dwindling. Only the top 50 players and ties will advance to the final rounds at Augusta National Golf Club. Those outside the cut line are forced to wait another year to try their luck at earning a green jacket. With such a prestigious award on the line, every shot and move becomes magnified at this stage of the tournament.
